Welcome to The Friends of the West Lampeter Township Police Department

The Friends of the Force is a charitable non-profit organization comprised of West Lampeter residents who work together toward the advancement of a safer community. We do this by working with the Township in providing needed supplemental equipment and training for our police, allowing them to work with greater efficiency, while improving safety, and effectiveness.

  • We do not solicit by telephone or use telemarketers.
  • The corporation was not formed for pecuniary profit or financial gain, and no part of the assets , net earnings or income are distributed to its members, trustees, officers, or directors.

The Friends of the Force meets the first Tuesday of every month at ​the West Lampeter Township Municipal Building 852 Village Road ​Lampeter, PA. The public is welcome to attend.

Donations of $250 or more will be acknowledged by written receipt for tax ​deduction purposes. SOME OF THE EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING THE FRIENDS ​HAVE ASSISTED THE POLICE IN ACQUIRING SINCE 2009

AXON Body Worn Cameras for ​every officer. They activate ​automatically when an officer turns ​on the emergency lights, or when an ​officer draws a firearm. When an ​officer draws his weapon, all on-​scene officer’s cameras activate.

  • They can improve officer performance ​and civilian conduct while holding ​everyone accountable for their actions.

LED SNAP ON Tactical Lights

Easily mounted on hand-held weapons for ​enhanced illumination when needed in darkened ​environments. They allow for more positive ​identification of potential offenders as well as ​innocent bystanders.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL DEVICES

The FOF purchased one for each of our officers. Better known as Tasers, they can temporarily immobilize a combative or resisting arrest individual.

Two Programable Speed Alert message signs

These signs assist in ​gathering traffic data and ​can be programmed to ​display traffic problems ​and roadway conditions ​ahead. They can be easily ​mounted on existing sign ​posts, poles and vehicle ​hitches.

Pet Microchip Scanner

Each year citizens bring into the station wondering pets that are lost. This scanner gives our officers the capability to scan these pets and if they are chipped, the can be returned to the rightful owner. 1 in 3 pets go missing in their lifetime and without proper ID, 90% never return home.

TWO 60 inch Monitors for squad room

The

The top monitor provides a constant stream of current event news coverage The bottom unit monitors the surveillance cameras for the holding cells and Lancaster County Dispatch. Both these large screens can easily be viewed from anywhere in the squad room.

INTOXIMETER Desktop Alcohol Breath Testing Device

Provides the police with accurate and precise results that can be ​displayed in real time, without delay, meeting the National Highway ​Traffic Safety Administration’s specifications.

PROJECT LIFESAVER

This program allows police and other first responders to quickly search, locate and rescue individuals who are at risk of wandering and getting lost due to Alzheimer’s disease, autism, Down syndrome, dementia, brain trauma or developmental issues. THE WLTPD BECAME THE SECOND DEPARTMENT IN THE COUNTY TO BE ​CERTIFIED IN THIS PROGRAM. SINCE ITS START, WORLD WIDE THERE HAS BEEN ​OVER 4,000 RESCUES IN THE AVERAGE TIME OF 30 MINUTES OR LESS, ​NORMALLY USING ONLY TWO OR THREE PUBLIC SAFETY RESPONDERS.

Two Drunk Buster Pedal Karts

Used by the Lampeter-Strasburg School Resource Officer in demonstrating to ​the students the effects of substance abuse when driving a motor vehicle.

30 inch Halligan Pry Bars

Police sometimes in the line of duty might be ​required to breach locked doors, windows, or ​even walls. These Forced Entry Tools were ​purchased by the FOF for the WLTPD and carried ​in the patrol cars allowing for emergency entry ​into secured buildings and vehicles.

Compact Door Rams

ULTRASONIC WEAPON CLEANER AND ​LUBE TANK

Provides efficient cleaning of long guns while the ​officers are freed up to do more important work. ​Valuable resources are not used in the required time ​needed to keep their weapons clean

Future Events

Visit with the West Lampeter Police and other first responders Aug. 6 at NATIONAL NIGHT OUT, 6PM to 9PM at the Lampeter Fair grounds. Enjoy free food, drinks, riding bull, face painting, a balloon artist and fireworks.

​We are giving away these all weather ​18"X24" signs at our cost of only $8.00 ​per sign. They can be legally displayed ​in West Lampeter Township on private ​property with the consent of the owner ​all year long.
